Minna-san, konnichi wa!
It’s been a while since I missed last week’s post. I am still recovering from feeling under the weather. Getting sick during my birth month and during Camp NaNo month, well that’s just my luck.
Anyways, in this post, I want to discuss an upcoming change to this blog and will talk about what this change entails.
So with that being said, let’s move on to today’s post. Ikou!
What is Moon Star Reviews?
Starting next week, I will be releasing a new kind of post on my blog and that is book reviews.
Moon Star Reviews will feature books in a variety of genres that I enjoy reading and will feature books that are more than likely purchased by me. It may also feature books that are either new to me or rereads. Regardless, Moon Star Reviews will start with me sharing a book that I am currently reading for the week on my social media, and then I will write a review when I am done, giving the book an overall rating, and links to where you can purchase it.
However, I can’t guarantee a Moon Star Review every week. It depends on the length of the book, how fast I can read, and if other things get in the way. Which brings me to…
When will Moon Star Reviews be Posted?
Moon Star Reviews will be posted on Mondays, possibly at 10:30 AM PST or 6:30 PM PST. I am still trying to decide between a morning or evening schedule. If you have a preference as to when you would like to see a post by me, then let me know in the comments below. I would love your feedback.
Moon Star Reviews will also be starting up soon. And I mean like REALLY soon. Like next week. The first book that I will be doing a review on is from The Cozy Alcove: Reading List and it will also be on my May’s TBR list on my social media platforms. Each week, I plan to release the book that I am reading for that week. The following week, a review will be posted. Depending on the length of the book and on my schedule, the time it takes to read a book may be longer, but I will let you know if that’s the case. However, I will TRY my best to release a book review every week.
What is Moon Star Reviews’ Rating System?
Moon Star Reviews will be operated by the five-star rating system, which I call moon stars.
= This book is really bad. I want to throw it at the wall.
= This book is kind of bad. But I don’t dislike it enough to throw it at the wall.
= This book is okay. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it. It has potential.
= This book is good. It has some issues. But I’m willing to overlook it.
= This book is really good. No, GREAT! No, AMAZING!
Also note, that books that have a four or five moon star rating will most likely make a home on my shelf, and if I’m reading the eBook version, then it might be good enough for me to purchase a physical copy. I will also most likely be reading them again and will recommend others to read them.
For books that have a three moon star rating, they MAY OR MAY NOT find a home on my shelf, be purchased by me if I read via eBook, or be recommended to a friend. It really depends on the book.
Hopefully, I won’t ever get to a point where I DNF (did not finish) a book, but if I do, then those books will not get a review from me. Though I may explain why I DNF the book. But I won’t give it any moon stars.
What are My Qualms with Giving Moon Star Reviews?
Before officially launching Moon Star Reviews, I would like to briefly disclose some reservations I have about leaving reviews on my blog.
This site will NOT be a troll site where I bash on books that I read. I will be reading books from genres, categories, content, and plots that I think I will enjoy, which hopefully will minimize the one or two moon star reviews, but it is not a guarantee.
I will be leaving honest reviews, and even if I don’t enjoy a book and feel that it is deserving of one moon star, I will be respectful about it.
There have been some books in the past that have made me feel that way, but it is very rare for me to not like a book enough to give it one-star (even two-stars) as most books are usually three-stars or higher in my mind.
So there you have it, details about Moon Star Reviews and when Moon Star Reviews will be launched.
I hope that you enjoyed reading about my plans for leaving book reviews on my site.
